Staircase to hell... lomoed! - a photo on Flickriver

I usually don't like posting a subject twice... I prefer my photos to be all different from one another. Anyway, this time I had a really hard time choosing between two types of treatment for the same shot and decided to break this "rule".

I was with a friend of mine in an abandoned mill factory near Altopascio (Tuscany), when he took a shot of this staircase. He immediately noticed how his camera had enhanced the good-looking natural red-to-blue gradient on the wall. I decided to steal a pic of this wonder of oldness too.

In this shot I wanted to obtain a Holga Lomo style, to let the gradient on the wall have the maximum possible impact on the image. I have tried several pre-made actions for Photoshop to obtain this effect, but liked none of them. So, I created a custom action to reach the effect I look for.

- Treatment: Cropping, lens distortion, selective sharpening, hue/saturation, layers (many!) vignetting, blurs, levels, curves, dodge&burn&sponge
