Hodenpyl Dam Pond, Little Mac Bridge, Big Manistee River

All from up on the North Country Trail -- north of the "Marilla Junction" and just south of the Beers Road trailhead (which is east of Marilla and west of Mesick, MI). This section of the North Country Trail parallels the Manistee River on its west side from Beers Road (near the Hodenpyl Dam) to Red Bridge at Coates Highway.

Late afternoon sun along the Manistee River, up and downstream from the Hodenpyl Dam. You're seeing the Hodenpyl Dam Pond and the Little Mac suspension foot bridge crossing the Manistee River. The bridge connects to the Manistee River Trail on the east side of the river. The previous three photos show better views of the bridge.

At the levee for the pond you can see a stairway which leads up from a public parking lot to the pond, and it's part of the portage for the dam.
