Total width: 34+20+40+20+34= 148'-0" and wings 20' high and main house is 40' high.

No longer in copyright, some TLC for this 1734 Detail Elevation on a Survey of the Richmond Royal House & Gardens.

This south facing detail Elevation is now 287 years old as of my 03Feb2021 upload date.

Originally known as Ormonde Lodge, it became known as Richmond Lodge. It was located in the Old Deer Park in Richmond.

In 1707, Queen Anne granted the property to James Butler (2nd Duke of Ormonde) who tore down the existing house and built a new home.

In 1721, the Butler estate sold the house & land to future King George III ( as the Prince of Wales) and future Queen Caroline.

Becoming King George II and Queen Caroline in 1727, they continued to summer here. This royal house and the gardens were the passion & project of Queen Caroline.

NOTE the name 'Ormond Walk' from the Royal House compound towards kew Garden's Lion Gate area.

In 1762, future King George III (grandson of Geo II) & new wife & future Queen Charlotte chose to live here.

It can be seen on the 1771 Survey of Richmond & Kew Gardens ... it is located to the right of the letters 'V' & 'E' in the River Thames text ... a sort of a 'H'-shaped building ... you can see the two long lawns in front above and on the 1771 Survey.

It was King George III who decided to have it pulled down in 1772, and the associated lands were merged into the Royal Estate and the White House . Dutch House properties.

Located south of present day Kew Gardens. It was never known as Kew Palace.
