Pretty lady on the lake - a photo on Flickriver

            Although I personally haven't seen a Wood Duck at Yoctangee Park lately, I hope that there is still a presence there. Usually there is one male who seems to think he's a Mallard, since he is always hanging out with that group.

At some point, the male (or perhaps it was another male altogether) brought his female companion to hang out with the mallards as well. It was nice to have them both there. 

Since the park ducks see people regularly, they aren't generally shy. That is good when you want to photograph a wood duck. It seems like when I have an opportunity to see/photograph a Wood Duck in the wild, they often want to hide as quickly as possible.
