Johnnie Walker is one of the iconic brands of whiskies in the world. There are several variants of its blended scotch from Red Label, Black Label, Double Black Label, Green Label, Gold Label and its top of the line Blue Label. The higher up the list you go the smoother the scotch. (On that note, only whiskies produced in Scotland are allowed to be called "scotch". All others are simply called "whiskies".)

Here I pose with some of my Johnnie Walker items. I have a bottle of Red Label and Green Label, both Christmas gifts, as well as two of the six Johnnie Walker whisky water jugs I have. (As a side note I collect whisky water jugs and currently have 92 different jugs. Most are made by English porcelain maker Wade.)

I am primarily a drinker of Scottish single malts but a good blended scotch also goes down well. As you can see in the picture, I tend to do a generous pour, with a splash of tap water to help release the flavours. Never any ice. The scotch in my hand is in a Johnnie Walker glass.

The two most well known Canadian whiskies that are imported around the world are Crown Royal and Canadian Club, which we in Canada usually call ryes. Or in these particular cases, we might order a Crown or a CC. So for example, in a bar you would order a Crown and coke or a CC and ginger. There are a few new craft distilleries in Canada that are producing single malts that are quite good. When it comes to making good whisky a lot of it is all about the quality of the water.

In Scotland, Canada and Japan, the distilled beverage is spelt whisky. For some reason, in Ireland and the United States it its spelt whiskey, with an "e". Regardless of how it is spelled, there is no doubt that whisky/whiskey has deservedly earned its title as "the nectar of the gods".
