L2024_0135 Entering Dee Branch Lock, Chester

A narrow boat is seen entering the final lock on the River Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

The Dee Branch provides a link from Tower Wharf to the tidal River Dee.

However, only the section of canal below the first lock is currently only and is used mainly for its berths. The final section to the River Dee remains closed.

There appears to be the intention to reopen the section leading into the River when a lock on the Dee has been constructed at the Dee Weir.
