Coot repairing her nest - a photo on Flickriver

As we walked along the Berkel we heard a lot of excited bird screams in the distance. We couldn't identify the sound, but as we got closer we saw a heron sitting on the coot's nest and it was the coot that must have been screaming to make clear she didn't agree. The heron didn't care, but left after a while anyway. Agitated the coot climbed her nest, it did not seem damaged, but the coot frantically began to stamp the nest flat with her enormous foot and with her beak she brought the blades back to the place she thought they should have. It was quite a spectacle :)
