Shadowland - a photo on Flickriver

Shadowland

The next image in my series of the "shadow" people based around dementors and a dream I had a few weeks ago.

This is also part of an ongoing collaboration with Cameron Bushong, you can see his here. We are combining writing with photography and this time the theme was "Demons". It fits part of my current mindset lately. I've long struggled with seasonal depression, something I rarely talk about. Usually in November I feel a cloud of darkness descend into my mind and it takes a lot for me to shake it off, I've become stronger because of it, I anticipate the lighter times and appreciate the days that I can see the sunlight and feel the cloud lift.

In The Shadowlands

In darkened winter hours
The silhouettes appear.
With shorter days upon us
Their presence, contstant and clear.

Turning thoughts into a shadowland,
And colour into grey,
They make it an impossible feat
To try and turn away.

The weapon to defeat them,
Though forever in our sight,
Can feel as though it will not help
That it won't win this fight.

In passing nights and brighter days
The shadows will move away
But they are a frequent visitor
And will return someday.
