Woolsey Memorial Airport, Northport, Michigan stone terminal building

            Woolsey Memorial Airport is a publicly owned, public use airport located three miles northeast of Northport, Michigan.  It was opened in 1935 in honor of Clinton Woolsey, a local resident and US Army Air Service engineer, who died in Argentina in 1927 during the first Pan-American goodwill flight.

The one building on the site is made of field stone and was built about 1874 as a creamery by Mr. Woolsey's father, who donated the building and land to make the airport.

As of 2024, the two turf runway airport is still in use, but the building is very much in need of repair and preservation.  The Leelanau Township Community Foundation is currently raising funds to preserve the building.
