            Dithyrocaris new species in carbonaceous black shale from the Pennsylvanian of Kentucky, USA.

These fossils are well preserved specimens of an unnamed species of Dithyrocaris, a fossil phyllocarid crustacean.  Complete and disarticulated specimens are moderately common in a blocky-weathering, carbonaceous black shale bed of the lower Breathitt Formation in northern Kentucky.

Stratigraphy: lower Breathitt Formation, Middle Pennsylvanian

Locality: roadcut on either side of Route 10, just southeast of the small town of Letitia, northwestern Greenup County, northeastern Kentucky, USA
