Dolostone is a chemical sedimentary rock composed of dolomite - calcium magnesium carbonate (CaMg(CO3)2). Dolostone is usually gray, finely crystalline, and bubbles in acid when powdered. Many dolostones are chemically altered limestones.

Locality: hanging wall of the St. Clair Thrust Fault, roadcut along the eastern side of north-bound Route 460, just north of the Narrows water gap & just south of the town of Rich Creek, northern Giles County, western Virginia, USA (37˚ 22' 07.88" North latitude, 80˚ 49' 06.76" West longitude)
