Latin name: Turdus merula - Blackbird

We have had many nests in our garden this year with lots of hatchings of blackbirds, dunnocks, wrens, robins, great tits, blue tits, pigeons, collared doves, sparrows, and maybe goldfinches.  We also have a song thrush that comes in several times every day to collect food and take for feeding, but maybe next year it will decide to nest in our garden too, then not have to travel far for the food!

While doing some garden tidying up of spent leaves dead-heading and cutting back I heard a tiny "cheep, cheep" then noticed a female sitting on the fence obviously waiting to come down to feed, so I left the area, and quickly came in to collect my camera, then watch and wait for her to disappear off to find some more food.  Then I popped back to the area, and found this tiny one sitting there, waiting for the next morsel to be delivered.  I quickly grabbed a couple of shots without disturbing it and went to another part of the garden to carry on with the tidying jobs.  After hearing some other calls for food and a few sightings from the kitchen window we think there were either two or three fledglings being catered for, so Mum and Dad are being kept very busy, as we see them coming and going continuously throughout the day!
