            Loch an Dubh-Lochain and Luinne Bheinn, Knoydart, May 27, 1988.  The first day of an 11-day solo camping/backpacking trip to Knoydart, travelling by train to Mallaig to catch the boat to Inverie, and walking from there to Barrisdale, over the Mam Unndalain to Lochan nam Breac, down Glen Carnach to Sourlies, over the Mam na Cloich Airde to Strathan at the head of Loch Arkaig, and finally through Gleann a' Chaorainn and Glen Finnan to catch the train home from Glenfinnan station on June 6.

My journal for the day records:

'Walked for about four miles up Glean an Dubh-Lochain to camp at head of Loch an Dubh Lochain.  Had the place to myself.  Weather good, breezy, some cloud but much sun.  Evening superb.  Midges came out at 9pm.  Slept like a log 'til 06.30.  A tiring start after a long journey and carrying a 25Kg pack but no complaints.'
