What Grows In Your Garden - a photo on Flickriver

            We trouped off to Simcoe, Ontario last week to visit the Norfolk County Fall Fair and Horse Show, which is probably the best fall fair in Ontario and one of the last as the fair season winds down on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. This is a very traditional fall fair with a heavy emphasis of displaying the best of what this predominantly agricultural region of Ontario has to produce. I found a display in the youth section that featured ‘What Grows In Your Garden’. This branch of the competitions requires a variety of superior home-grown produce to be pleasingly displayed. The colours and shapes provided a good subject for this image.  - JW

Taken using a hand-held Nikon D7100 fitted with a Nikkor 12-24mm lense set to 12mm, Auto WB, ISO720 (Auto ISO), Aperture priority mode, f/4.0, 1/40 sec. PP in free Open Source  RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: scale image to 9000x6000, set exposure to approx 0.5 stops higher (brighter) than as-shot, adjust contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, adjust colour balance tto slightly warmer than as-shot, increase vibrance slightly, sharpen, save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: adjust colour balance and overall tonality using the levels tool auto mode, sharpen, save, scale image to 6000x4000, sharpen slightly, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add  bar and text on left, save, scale image to 1800 wide for posting, sharpen slightly, save.
