19/11/2007 (Day 354) - 'The Adventure Of The Three Hundred And Sixty-Five Days'

            A little known story, in which Sherlock Holmes finds himself accompanied not by Doctor Watson, but by the less well-known Kaptain Kobold. 

A tribute to history's most famous detective is long overdue in my 365 Days Self-Portrait project, so here it is.

I have been a Sherlock Holmes buff for a good 25 years or more, and was once a member of a number of societies devoted to studying the stories about him and the world he lived in. Indeed at a meeting of one of them I met a woman who features quite heavily in this photostream - my wife, Catherine. 

Family commitments meant that most of my Holmesian activities fell by the wayside, but I still have a soft-spot for Great Detective and his faithful biographer Doctor Watson.

The illustration above (originally entitles "Holmes Gave Me A Sketch Of The Events") is taken from 'The Adventure of Silver Blaze', and is by the artist Sidney Paget, who illustrated all of the Holmes stories for the Strand Magazine until his death in 1908.
