Transvestism: Where 95% of your wardrobe is only worn 5% of the time.

Today The Rogues are asking us to explore how what we wear defines our identity. Well, as a crossdresser I can honestly say that an important part of my identity is very much determined by what I wear.

This is not the first time I've cross-dressed for Flickr, of course. Far from it. But I have tried something different today. Previously I have adopted one of two approaches - tongue in cheek (Tranzilla, for example) or my full tranny persona. Today I wanted to do something more honest; I wanted to show myself as the transvestite I am, without hiding behind one or other of the masks I normally adopt.

That's not to say that I look like this all of the time. Indeed, this is the first time I've worn any women's clothing for weeks; since my last cross-dressed 365 nearly six weeks ago in fact*. And, even when I do crossdress, I don't look like this; it doesn't 'work' for me unless I go the whole hog; shaved, made up, wigged and all the rest**. There's no logical reason for why I need to do all that; I know that it's a mask of sorts and that, if crossdressing is just about the pleasure of wearing the clothes, it's not needed. But I need to do it.

Anyway, today, just for you, Flickr, I've put a nice dress on. It's a vintage Laura Ashley one I picked up on eBay; not the height of fashion, I know but an object of desire for many years, and one of the first things I bought when I finally came out a couple of years ago.

*And I wore trousers for that; it's been months now since I actually wore a dress :-)

**One day I must do a picture featuring all of my paraphenalia, I really must. It'll have boobs in it, which will certainly make some people happy.

A year ago today I was writing a letter in crayon.
