Cleopatra's Needle

The Obelisk, aka "Cleopatra's Needle", was presented to the City of New York by the Romans by way of Egypt.

I enjoyed seeing this iconic Central Park sculpture for the first time during a free tour given by the Central Park Conservancy. I learned that it is the oldest man-made structure in the park, is 71 feet tall and that it took longer for the it to be exported across the park than it did for it to be exported across the ocean from Alexandria (wherever that is...).
