Iona Abbey and St Martins Cross - a photo on Flickriver

            I take photos of places not for money, but because I enjoy it. Sometimes I get some beer money from it (thanks Getty). This year, life has been a wee bit complicated and I've not produced the content I'd hoped I would. 

So I forced myself to go on a pilgrimage to Iona this week; a coast-to-coast trip from east to west and back in 36 hours. I spent slightly more time in transit back and forth than actually overnight on the island. But, I saw what I needed to - this is the first of two historically important and personally crucial crosses I wanted to see with my own eyes. One of them may eventually be drawn on my flesh, and for good reason.
