Edinburgh - SSCB Night - a photo on Flickriver

            A commentary on Edinburgh Churches and the state of the Church of Scotland - Part 1.5

All opinions and observations are my own.

The CoS has embarked on a "radical action plan" which is shaking up the home of Presbyterianism. It's had such a wide variety of impact across the country that there's no point in me attempting to summarise it here other than I will label it: managed decline.

Our overlords at 121 are human, so intentions will be blurred and mistakes will be made. But one thing is clear to me: Jesus' church will not be overcome. Buildings come and go, parish lines fade away, denominations rise and fall, but the bride of Christ will always endure and always be his. 

Much like St. Andrew, the light of the saints endure too. I hope this is represented here, the only means of illuminating the nave being the nearly 250 candles in the pews. There is a single bulb behind the stained glass which is switched on, but nothing else. Five frames, all three minute exposures - stitched to 21:9. It was very dark, a lot of wax was spilled, and setting up and clearing away took an hour. But it was very pretty to look at the flickering lights in a draughty auld church.
