4R-ALJ Airbus A330-243 SriLankan Airlines FRA 24MAY15

            First flown with the Airbus test registration F-WWKI, this aircraft was delivered to CIT Aerospace and leased to jmc AIR as G-OJMC in Mar-02.

jmc AIR was formed from the merger of Flying Colours Airlines and the second Caledonian Airways.  Unfortunately, the general public had no idea who or what 'JMC' was or what it stood for (it was the initials of Thomas Cook's son (or grandson), 'John Mason Cook') and the airline was renamed Thomas Cook Airlines in Apr-03.

The aircraft was wet-leased to Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia between Oct/Dec-10 and was returned to the lessor in Mar-12.  It was immediately leased to SriLankan Airlines as 4R-ALJ.

The aircraft was withdrawn from service and stored at Colombo, Sri Lanka in Jan-20.  It was ferried to Dusseldorf, Germany in Dec-20 and returned to the lessor as OE-ILX in early Jan-21.

The aircraft was leased to I-fly (Russia) as EI-GVH in late Jan-21 and was initially used as a 'Preighter' (a passenger aircraft operating as freighter!).

After Russia invaded Ukraine in Feb-22 and due to the sanctions placed on Russia by many Western countries, it was re-registered RA-73851 in May-22, although it doesn't appear to have flown since then.  Updated 27-Oct-23.
