VP-BHM 2 Douglas DC-8-62H Brisair Switzerland MAN 26MAY08

            The Douglas DC-8-62 was the long-range version of the DC-8-60 series.  The DC-8-62H was a higher maximum take-off weight version (350,000lbs / 158,760kgs) with a greater range / payload capacity.

VIP/CIP interior configuration.

First flown in Aug-69, this aircraft was delivered to United Airlines as N8975U in Oct-69.  After only 13 years in service with United it was sold to the Andalair Corporation as VR-BHM (Bermuda) in Mar-82.

The following month it was was sold to Sigair Ltd (Switzerland) and converted to a VIP/CIP 'BizJet' configuration.  Sigair was renamed Brisair Ltd (Switzerland) in Jun-84 and the aircraft was re-registered VP-BHM in Jun-97 (see note below).  It was permanently retired at Stockholm-Arlanda in May-11. Note:  The original VR- registration was the old British Colonial prefix with the VR-B** denoting Bermuda (VR-H** for instance was Hong Kong).  The old Colonial registration prefixes were discontinued in 1997 when Bermuda became VP-***.  The VQ-*** sequence was introduced later when aircraft leasing companies were registering a lot of aircraft for leasing worldwide.
