G-VGAL 1 Boeing 747-443 Virgin Atlantic Airways MAN 19OCT05

            Replacing an earlier digital photo with a better version 24-Dec-19.

Named: "Jersey Girl".

With additional 'Fly a younger fleet' titles.

Originally ordered by Alitalia as EI-CVH, the order was cancelled during construction and the aircraft was sold to Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VGAL in Apr-01.  Virgin sold it to GECAS (General Electric Capital Aviation Services) on delivery and leased it back.

The aircraft was stored at Manchester, UK in Mar-20 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Virgin Atlantic then decided to retire their remaining Boeing 747's ahead of schedule and the aircraft was ferried to Ciudad Real, central Spain on 02-Jun-20 for extended storage.

It was ferried Ciudad Real / London-Heathrow and then via Las Vegas to Marana, AZ, USA in Nov-20 for lease return and storage.  It was due to be leased to Atlas Air, however the lease didn't happen and the aircraft remained stored at Marana. Possibly permanently retired.  Updated 22-Oct-22.
