Twite (linaria flavirostris) Pegwell bay

            The numbers of Twite overwintering in Kent has drastically dropped in the last 40 or so years I remember in the 1980S seeing dozens of them on the beach at Pegwell bay .They are pretty much extinct as a breeding bird in the uk now . This year I have only seen or heard of 2 birds in the Pegwell bay area (or in kent for that matter) . I was lucky enough to catch up with them (or at least by sitting quietly they found me) they were feeding steadily along the tideline and  no notice at all of me.
