Photo Op

            A view of McWay Falls in the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park along California's Big Sur coast.  Before 1983 McWay poured directly into the Pacific Ocean.  In that year a large rock slide just a ways up the coast dumped massive amounts of rock, sand, and silt into the ocean, creating the beach you see in the photo.  At high tide and during storms, the waterfall drops directly into the surf.

In theory you're not supposed to climb down into Waterfall Cove.  The rangers don't want to be in the risky business of rescuing people who get stranded.  However this couple apparently couldn't resist the unique photo opportunity.
