On a soul-search to Bakerland! - a photo on Flickriver

A glimpse from the Centre for development studies (CDS), built by British-Indian architect Laurie Baker (March 2, 1917 – April 1, 2007). He used organic shapes and curves abundantly in most of his works. The sapling planted in its central courtyard while building this structure has out grown to shade the entire area!

I have had the opportunity to visit quite a number of his building in recent days and its been a real eye opener! Many of his clients are proud of owning a "Baker house" and miss him badly! Kerala will miss him too as it continues to become a concrete jungle and choked to end by real-estate in the coming years!
