Remembering the 47 ceremony - USS IOWA

April 19, 2017 at 0940 (9:40 am): Battleship IOWA museum honored the brave servicemen who lost their lives aboard the historic battleship in 1989 -- 28 years ago today. Family and friends of the fallen -- along with fellow servicemen, past and present -- gathered in solemn remembrance.

The ceremony included an honor guard colors presentation, invocation, reading of the names of the fallen, and benediction. Los Angeles City Fireboat 2, positioned near the battleship, sent-up fountains of seawater in tribute. The public event invited all to pay their respects to these heroes who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for peace.
