Day Three Hundred and Sixty Five - a photo on Flickriver

365 / 365 : Going On.

And here we are, the last day.
365 photos after, 290.000 hits on Flickr after, 36 photos in explore after, 2 front pages after, over 200.000 clicks on that shutter button after… I got here.
First of all, i NEVER believed i could make it to the end of this project.
But i'm stupid, so i forgot that and i kept on going on with it.
Day after day, photo after photo, i reached the goal line.
And it feels great. And sad. And i don't know how it feels really :)

Having to shoot THAT photo everyday, be it in a sunny afternoon where you got absolutely nothing better to do, be it on the way home, drunk, after a long and tiring day at work and knowing that you have to wake up early the day after…
I had no idea what i was doing when i started :)

But what really surprised me is that, no matter how painful or hard it was, i never regretted it. Nor while shooting nor the day after. And, of course, i would re-do everything, i have absolutely no regrets about this project.

I don't regret the overall loss of sleep through this year, i don't regret the loss of "sociality" due to "hey, i really would like to stay here and have fun but i gotta go home two hours earlier to shoot my photo of the day" and so on…

Enough with what i don't regret. I already said i don't regret anything.

This project taught me. Taught me lots of stuff.
Taught me that I CAN DO IT, no matter what that "IT" is.
Taught me that i am my own constant drive.
Taught me that you don't simply stumble upon inspiration, instead you build your own path to get to it.
Taught me that sharing is the best way to make something real : when i started involving people in my project, people started to help me, be interested, give me advices, ask me about it. It was great to receive all of that support from everybody.
Great and necessaire.

Even though i still don't bathe in confidence regards my photos, i realize that i've grown a long way from my day one.
At the same time, i realize i still have such a loooooooong way to go. And i'm both ready and excited about that!

For instance, looking back through all of my photos, it's easy to spot my weak points : i took photos of a VERY FEW people during this year, i've been avoiding exposing myself to the point where i had to INTERACT with someone while taking their pictures, i avoided having to CREATE the photo, before and during the process. And those two points will be the ones i will work my butt around from tomorrow.

Will i start a photographic career? I'm thinking about it. Seriously thinking about it.
Stay tuned for more regards this matter, i'll take my decision pretty soon.

So many things changed over the last year : i changed country, i changed habits, i changed language (at least the most spoken one in my daily routine), i changed goals. I've grown.

And this project documented it all. Images, memories, thoughts. It's all in it.
What a great experience i had.

Last, but not least, i want to thank all of YOU that watch my photos, read my thoughts, comment them and appreciate them. Day by day, you helped me through this. People like Alucardo, Possessed2fisheye, Brandon, CatMcBride, Drewle, Pooka, Elo365, Sheridanphotos, Altered and torn, SoosieQ, Studio D'Xavier, Flickr Rick and many many many more.

You inspired me, helped me, supported me. Thanks.
(I know i haven't been the best contact though: especially after july 22nd, the day i started to live alone, i reduced my "time at home" so much that i completely cut out the time to go through your streams everyday. I'm sorry about that)

And thanks to all of my family and friends, for supporting me through this, for using this project as a tool to read about me and about my journeys in the other side of the world, for making fun of it and for giving me sincere critiques.

Thanks Sio : we started this together and, yes, you're a dumbass so you are 100 days behind me but, it was a great drive to have you by my side in this, i'm looking forward to printing the book together.

And how can we forget to thank that beautiful thing that is FACE DOWN TUESDAY!?

Possessed2fisheye introduced me to the group in the very first days of this project and i totally fell in love with it! I want to thank the admins, all of the members and whoever had the original idea : it's simply FREAKING GOOD.

Ok guys, i think i wrote enough for today. It's time to celebrate: New year's even is about to commence. Time to get drunk, have fun with my best friends and greet the 2012.

To all of you starting this project : Don't give up. EVER. Stick with it and believe me, you will be happy with it.
