Rainbow Mountains - a photo on Flickriver

Rainbow Mountains

            Visiting a place again and again affords opportunities to observe the changes and differences in different conditions. I find this experience very rewarding. This was my 7th trip to Carrizo Plain National Monument, and my 6th during conditions widely described as a superbloom. Every visit was very different, and this set of mountains in the Temblor Range I have photographed during each of the 3 events but it was never quite like this. An ocean of orange fiddle necks gave way to pockets of purple phacelia, neon orange poppies, and yellow hillside daisies. A blue sky and Bluegreen patches of shrubs intermixed with the green of chlorophyl round out a rainbow of color that stopped my in my tracks. The splendor of nature is just magic to behold.
