Blaumeise | Eurasian blue tit | Cyanistes caeruleus

            Die Blaumeise, wissenschaftlich als Cyanistes caeruleus bekannt, ist ein charmanter kleiner Vogel mit auffälligem blau-gelben Gefieder, der in Mitteleuropa weit verbreitet ist. Mit einer Körperlänge von etwa 12 Zentimetern ist sie deutlich kleiner als die Kohlmeise und lässt sich durch ihre einzigartigen Farben leicht identifizieren. Diese Vögel bevorzugen Laub- und Mischwälder, sind aber auch häufig in Gärten und Parks anzutreffen. Ihre Ernährung besteht hauptsächlich aus Insekten und Spinnen, wobei sie außerhalb der Brutzeit auch pflanzliche Kost zu sich nehmen. Die Blaumeise ist bekannt für ihre Geschicklichkeit beim Nahrungserwerb, da sie sich an die äußersten Zweige klammern und sogar kopfüber hängend nach Nahrung suchen kann. Sie brüten meist in Baumhöhlen oder nehmen gerne Nistkästen an, wobei sie in der Regel ab Mitte April Eier legen. Der Gesang der Blaumeisen ist sehr abwechslungsreich und beginnt oft mit einem hohen "tii-tii", gefolgt von einem melodischen Triller. In Deutschland sind Blaumeisen nicht gefährdet und können das ganze Jahr über beobachtet werden, was sie zu einem beliebten Gast an Futterstellen macht.

The Eurasian blue tit, scientifically known as Cyanistes caeruleus, is a small and vibrant passerine bird that is a member of the tit family, Paridae. Recognizable by its bright blue and yellow plumage, it is a common sight across temperate and subarctic Europe and the western Palearctic. These birds are primarily resident and non-migratory, often found in deciduous or mixed woodlands, particularly those with a high proportion of oak. They are known for their acrobatic skills, able to cling to the outermost branches in search of food, which mainly consists of insects and spiders. During the breeding season, they nest in tree holes, but will also use nest boxes if available. The blue tit's distinctive appearance, with an azure-blue crown and dark blue line passing through the eye, makes it one of the most recognizable and beloved birds in its habitat.
