Cape Horn Station

            Cape Horn, Chile; the Chilean Navy maintains a station on Hornos Island, about one mile from the actual cape, which can be seen in the background. The Cape Horn Monument is to the left of the Cape Horn Lighthouse and other buildings of the station.

Cape Horn is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in southern South America. It is located on Hornos Island and marks the northern boundary of Drakes Passage as well as the meeting of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Often considered to be the southernmost point of South America, there is a group of islands further south that actually have that distinction.
