Rest In Peace, LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)

            Under the cover of a Pandemic they tore down the 4 original buildings of Old LACMA without really telling, let alone heeding, the community’s wishes.  4 beautiful 1960s modernist buildings that were elegant and avante garde as anything built in America to this day.  One of these 4 buildings housed a landmark movie theater called the Bing, which was probably one of the very best in all of the United States.  There are no solid plans for anything new to be built there, current plans are said to be dead on arrival with all sorts of funding problems, and the designs that have been proposed are not only ugly, but laughable and much smaller.  And so it goes.  So many of my key life moments were spent in that beautiful architectural corridor, with my family, with those who would become my family, with those who would become memories...So many things I learned from the artists and art housed within, not to mention my introductions to Bergman, Kurosawa, Tarkovsky the French New Wave, to name a few.  Now all gone to dust, as civilizations always go (especially in Los Angeles.)  We control nothing, we own nothing, change is all.  I have the photographs, and now they are historical artifacts...
