O Rio Grande do Sul é um estado possui papel marcante na história do Brasil, tendo sido palco da Guerra dos Farrapos, a mais longa guerra civil do país. Sua população é em grande parte formada por descendentes de portugueses, alemães, italianos, africanos e indígenas. Em pequena parte por espanhóis, poloneses e franceses, dentre outros imigrantes.
Historicamente, o Rio Grande do Sul, estado ao extremo sul do Brasil, sempre foi uma região de conflitos e de culturas diversas. Numa área pertencente à Espanha pelo Tratado de Tordesilhas, alguns portugueses fincaram o pé em partes da localidade no intuito de tomar as terras dos espanhóis, mas esqueciam-se todos que os donos legítimos da terra eram os índios. Na prática, nunca houve divisão de fato dos territórios do pampa rio-grandense, pampa argentino e pampa uruguaio, proporcionando uma integração – nem sempre pacífica – entre os três povos.
A Semana Farroupilha é um momento especial de culto às tradições gaúchas, transcendendo o próprio Movimento Tradicionalista Gaúcho. Ela envolve praticamente toda a população do Estado, se não fisicamente nos locais organizados para festejos, participando das iniciativas do comércio, dos serviços públicos, das instituições financeiras ou das indústrias.

A Semana Farroupilha é feita em duas estâncias, a estadual com a definição de diretrizes gerais, escolha do tema básico e atividades que envolvem as distâncias públicas estaduais, e no nível local onde, na prática ocorrem os festejos as manifestações Culturais, artísticas e onde se realizam as mostras e os desfiles destacando-se o realizado a cavalo.

Farringdon week. Gaucho pride (as it is called the people who live in Rio Grande do Sul - the state to the south of Brazil)!

Rio Grande do Sul state has a remarkable role in Brazil's history, having been the scene of the War of Tatters, the longest civil war in the country. Its population is largely made up of descendants of Portuguese, Germans, Italians, Africans and Indians. In small part by the Spanish, Polish and French, among other migrants.
Historically, the Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil, has always been a region of conflict and cultures. In an area belonging to Spain by Treaty of Tordesillas, some Portuguese planted his foot in parts of town in order to take the land from the Spaniards, but forgot all the rightful owners of the land were Indians. In practice, there was never actually divide the territories of the Rio Grande pampa, pampa pampas of Argentina and Uruguay, offering integration - not always peaceful - between the three peoples.
Farringdon Week is a special time of worship to the Gaucho traditions, transcending himself Gaucho Traditionalist Movement. It involves almost the entire population of the state, if not physically in the festivities organized for local, participating in initiatives of trade, utilities, financial institutions or industries.

Week Farringdon is done in two offices, the state with the definition of general guidelines, basic theme and choice of activities involving state public distances, and at the local level where the festivities take place in practice the cultural, artistic and where perform the shows and parades highlighting the horse performed.
