(2) Santiago (lit. "São Tiago", em português) é a capital e a maior cidade do Chile. Está localizada na Região Metropolitana de Santiago, no vale central chileno, ao lado da Cordilheira dos Andes. 
A cidade de Santiago está localizada principalmente em um vale chamado "vale central". Este vale é parte da conhecida Depressão Intermediária e está delimitado claramente pelo cordão Chacabuco no norte, a Cordilheira dos Andes no leste, a Angostura de Paine no sul e a Cordilheira da Costa no oeste. Esse vale tem a extensão de 80 km na direção norte-sul e de 35 km na direção leste-oeste, aproximadamente.

Santiago (lit. "St. James" in Portuguese) is the capital and largest city of Chile. It is located in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, the Chilean central valley, along the Andes.
The city of Santiago is located mainly in a valley called "Central Valley". This valley is part of the Intermediate Depression and is known clearly defined by the umbilical Chacabuco in the north, the Andes in the east, Angostura Paine in the south and the coastal mountain range in the west. This valley has a length of 80 km in the north-south and 35 km from east to west, approximately.
