A Wild Day on the Beach - a photo on Flickriver

            This was taken in late October at Newhaven on the English south coast, at high tide and while storm Ciaran was active across Britain and Europe. I almost never made it because when I checked the weather app the morning I was scheduled to drive down it showed heavy rain for the time I was going to be there. I did eventually decide to go and as it turned out we dodged the rain for nearly all of our time spent there so it was a good decision to make the journey. 

I did however make a bad decision as well because I left my long lens at home which really impacted how I was able to shoot this famous lighthouse and breakwater, known for these giant waves pounding into and over the breakwater. Usually one would shoot this scene from the other side, on the beach, looking toward the lighthouse from the other side. However my lens wasn't long enough (and god knows I tried) and I really couldn't get the money shot that everyone was after. Lesson learned for next time!
