Robert Vos Wins Zilveren Camera 2008 - The Hague - Holland

3 CHAMPIONS ON A ROW

On Sunday afternoon 19 January 2009 my old school friend and photojournalist Robert Vos (43) from Dordrecht wins the Zilveren Camera (Silver Camera), the most important photo award in Holland. It was chosen from 8,000 photos. He received it in the Photo Museum in The Hague.

On his winning photo you see Olympic Champion Swimming 2004 Pieter van den Hoogenband (NL) embracing Maarten van der Weijden (NL), not realising he just won gold and also became an Olympic Champion in the 10 km swimming at the Olympic Games in Beijing, China on 21 August 2008. Maarten recovered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2003.

As soon as the news came from the national news agency ANP (where Robert works for) I drove to The Hague to interview him for Radio Rijnmond and to make this photo. He is looking so proud...
