Kyana Pike and Vanessa Pike-Russell - a photo on Flickriver

            Kyana is my cousin from Townsville (my Dad's niece) who is currently travelling around Australia and called in to Lake Illawarra to visit me. We hadn't met until today and yet we felt like we were old friends. We both love art and photography, have freckles and similar noses. It is funny how seeing photos of Kyana and her sisters over the years has built up a mental image of who she is and how she would sound. I had often regretted not being close to my cousins on my Dad's side of the family and was so glad to finally meet Kyana and get to know her better. 

We spent a lovely day visiting my favourite sites of Wollongong which included a visit to the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple and then to my favourite spot in Wollongong - The Wollongong Botanic Gardens by the Kawasaki bridge.  

We then headed to the Five Islands Brewery to meet up with my husband, step-son and his girlfriend before taking a short stroll down the beach to take photos of the lighthouse and harbour view. 

A wonderful day spent with long-lost family and hopefully one of many visits yet to come.
