Rusty Drive Wheels

            Seen on a PRR DD1 electric locomotive at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. This DD1 set was built by PRR Juniata Shops and Westinghouse in 1911. Electric Locomotives were needed to keep smoke from steam engines out of the tunnels into Manhattan that ran under the Hudson river. These locomotives were used for 57 yrs.
