Grandstaff Canyon... 20110618_6780-83-86_Pano

            This section of the canyon is seldom seen by tourists. Most canyon visitors from outside Moab hike to Morning Glory Natural Bridge, located at the end of a side canyon at far right (see note on image).

The trail in the upper canyon is visible at bottom center, on this side of the creek. Trails on the far side of the creek were probably made by wildlife.
 
The canyon used to be named "Negro Bill Canyon," honoring William Grandstaff, an early settler. In 2017 the USGS Board of Geographic Names approved "Grandstaff Canyon" as its new official name.
