Finally figured out a way to clean up goops, yay!

If anyone's interested, the problem is that the goop is a dust trap, almost impossible to keep clean as it dries (or even, once it's dry). You can remove the top layer with water (thereby cleaning it up) but then as soon as the "negative" (ie, the "goop" without the goop layer) dries, it gets very dark, and getting something usable out of it without ending up with incredibly high levels of grain is almost impossible (at least, with fuji fp100c). Getting it wet again brings the brightness back, but that dries in seconds, and besides, I don't want to put something wet on my scanner.

So I now trap the layer of water with a piece of glass, which prevents it from drying for up to an hour, plenty of time to perform a scan, and this now allows me to bring out the color in the print, and not have nearly as much grain.

In this era of super-sharp, highly saturated digital photography, this must sound silly, I'll grant you that :) But wow, this stuff is real fun to experiment with, and I really like the vintage look of the results.

Edit: this is good for fuji color instant film, I still need to try it out with b&w film, and it probably won't work so well for actual polaroid film since the color layers are much more fragile than the fuji negative)
