copper-throated sunbird - a photo on Flickriver

            this species of sunbird is a mangrove dweller. Since our mangrove habitat is in extreme short supply, so are their numbers.
The male of this species is considered one of the prettiest among the local sunbirds.
However, its full splendour only show up in good diffused lighting otherwise it would invariably looks like a piece of little charcoal on a branch.
Thanks to this sunbird family which has generously chosen a nest site in a very  convenient and open location, a front row seat to your fav movie for photographer like myself.
My biggest enemy is the dark mangrove environment. To made matter worst the weather was not very forgiving during the time of shootings. Nevertheless I'm glad that I had managed a couple of decent shots.
Seen here is the male upon its return to the nest to feed and simultaneously the female leaving the nest after spending some precious time with its 2 nestlings.

This is the very first time I have to use iso 5000 in order to attain the bare min shutter speed for the capture of these fast moving small birds in a low light environment.
