Burnley Rose Grove, Lancashire 28th April 1968

            A rescan of a 2006 posting which although still not a brilliant result is an improvement on the earlier attempt.

With rods tied onto the running plate, British Railways Standard 4 4-6-0 75032 awaits its fate alongside the shed wall at Rose Grove. It was a Sunday morning and my first visit to a steam shed. We were unchallenged as we wandered (and climbed) around on the engines.

A couple of weeks earlier I had never heard of Rose Grove but a very sad article in the Daily Express of 23rd April 1968 about an unfortunate young RG fireman, Derek Moody, who had been killed by vandals dropping a coping stone onto the railway brought it to my attention.
