Carnforth Lancashire 4th February 2012

            Shed road 1 at Carnforth mpd plays host to a Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 in steam 44 years after the last time I saw one in this location.

45305 was stabled here before and after the Cumbrian Mountain Express and the 5305LA support crew actually slept on the support coach behind the loco inside the shed building. Something you don't get to do very often!

The shed itself is like a timewarp because although it is the base for West Coast Railways' diesel & carriage rail business the original building, yard & facilities including turntable, coaling plant & ash lift, are all still in place.
