February 23 P1083906 - a photo on Flickriver

            This was the scene to the west when I went out to get the newspaper this morning about 6:30.  The moon was close to setting behind the Santa Cruz Mountains, passing through a layer of thin clouds.  This is a waxing gibbous moon, about 95% full.  It will be full around 4:30 tomorrow morning.  

It is a micro moon, the opposite of a super moon.  According to timeanddate.com  “A Micro Full Moon’s angular size is 12.5%–14.1% smaller than a Super Full Moon, and 5.9%–6.9% smaller than an average Full Moon (in years 1550–2650).”  I will not worry about how those ratios will change 322 years from now.
