Sunset and "hole punch" - a photo on Flickriver

            I had the time to capture another beautiful sunset, which by the way are increasingly impressive. 

The hole in the center is an atmospheric phenomenon called a "hole punch" or Cavum cloud. I thought it would be a simple air mass, but I decided to investigate since it was suspended all the time without changing shape. It is generated when the sub-melted water droplets (which are below the freezing point) freeze, dissipating the clouds around them. This makes the hole inside always have a virga, it penetrates in the form of ice that does not reach the ground. 

This time I used a Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 Arte lens and the way to capture hues is amazing.
