Seacow Head Lighthouse - a photo on Flickriver

            This lighthouse was built in 1864 and it was fully automated in 1959.  It was designated a provincial Heritage Place in 2012 and it appears in several opening scenes in the series “Road to Avonlea.” It is 18.3 m high. The name Seacow comes from the abundance of walruses that used to be in this cove in the late 19th century. We saw no “sea cows” on our visit. This is a pretty spot where you can get a bird’s eye view of the Confederation Bridge spanning the Strait in the distance. We brought a take out dinner and sat in our car to eat while watching the sky evolve.  It was a great spot to just sit and daydream.
