I've been blessed with quite a handful of spectacular sunrises over the last month or so, and this is the latest captured on Monday morning. Usually this facade of Carlisle Cathedral would be completely obscured by foliage, but after the surrounding trees shed their leaves in autumn it reveals this wonderful facade. Here, the Tait Memorial Window stands prominent and is framed by two large trees. This window is dedicated to 5 children of Dean Tait, who all died within weeks of each other of scarlet fever in 1856. Dean Tait was soon after appointed as Bishop of London so he did not have to return to the Cathedral. The sunrise sky certainly created an air of majesty and, after a night of rainfall, I really liked how the colours reflected on the wet pavement along Castle Street creating a red walkway.
