5540 @ Senenne

            De reeks 55 sleepte in een ver verleden verschillende reizigerstreinen. De rijtuigen van deze treinen waren enkel uitgerust met een elektrische verwarming en dit noodzaakte het gebruik van generatorwagens. Om dit tot een minimum te beperken werd er beslist om in 1975 een locomotief van de reeks 55 (De 5540) om te bouwen en de generator zo te veranderen dat deze ook de stroom kon opwekken voor de treinverwarming. Om een onderscheid te kunnen maken werd de 5540 uitgerust met een oranje band! De band werd 1 jaar later vervangen door een blauwe band.
De 5542 werd als 2de omgebouwd.
Nadien werden nog 5 andere "55'ers" (5505,5510,5515,5523,5531) aangepast en zo kreeg men ook gele 55 ers met een blauwe band te zien.
De 5529 werd uiteindelijk dan voorzien van een aangepaste blauw-gele livrei en dit viel zo goed mee dat men in korte tijd alle locs (8 stuks) in deze nieuwe standaardlivrei omschilderde (begin jaren '80)

De inzet van deze locs werd voorzien vanuit Jemelle voor de treinen Liège-Jemelle maar ook voor internationale treinen naar Luxemburg en Maastricht! In 1982 verhuisden ze naar de naar de stelplaats van Kinkempois terwijl de inzet van de locs zich meer en meer verplaatste richting Gouvy. Vanuit Gouvy werden de locs zelfs ingezet met autoslaaptreinen vanuit Nederland en Bressoux die richting Duitsland ev spoorden... Maar ook de weekendtrein tussen Nederland en Luxemburg bestaande uit de toen nog nieuwe NS intercity rijtuigen werden gesleept door de blauwe 55'ers.....

De 5540 werd voor het festival op "Chemin de fer du Bocq"  terug gebracht in zijn groene livrei met blauwe band, dit livrei droeg de 5540 van 1976 tot 1981. 

Op 17 augustus 2019 kon ik deze loc fotograferen tijdens een speciale fotodag bij Genenne op lijn 128.
