United Airlines Boeing 767-322ER, N675UA

Last year around this time I was packing my suitcase for a work trip to the US. I flew from Amsterdam Schiphol to Washington Dulles the next day, Sunday the 9th, on United Airlines flight UA947. I'd flown this same flight before, in June of 2019, but this time the jet wasn't parked at one of the terminals. Instead we were driven to the jet by bus, which gave me the opportunity to take a quick snapshot before boarding. The flight left Schiphol just before a major storm hit. This shut the airport for a while later during the day, and you can already see the weather brewing in this shot.

On long-distance flights, my work allows my to fly business class, but I still wasn't exactly thrilled at our travel agency buying me tickets with United Airlines. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This particular aircraft was delivered new back in 2000, so it's quite old, but it was much nicer than the 767-400ER I flew on the same route in 2019, as it had recently had been refitted with a new interior. This was really comfortable and private and I had a very enjoyable flight. What I didn't know at the time, of course, was that for the time being, this would be my last trip to DC. I'd been planning to travel to DC for BrickFair and had another work meeting scheduled there in the summer.

I'm a pretty lucky guy: I have a nice house and a job, my loved ones are OK, but boy, do I miss travelling. Right now United Airlines has suspended flights between Amsterdam and DC and this jet is parked. Hopefully things will get better this year.
