The House of Fortune is an archaeological site located in the city of Cartagena, Region of Murcia, Spain. It is a Roman domus from the 1st century BC. C. whose access is located in the Plaza de Risueño.

This domus receives its curious name from a Latin inscription located at its rear entrance, which reads “Fortuna propitia”, which means good luck. This inscription was placed there so that everyone who entered the house would be lucky. In it we find some of the parts of a typical Roman house of the time, such as the tablinum or reception room, the cubiculum or bedroom or the triclinium where large banquets were held. This house has been adapted for museum use in which visitors are given a tour of the house and are shown the ornaments and objects found in the excavation, such as tableware, coins, personal ornaments, lanterns, etc. Along with this visit you can also see some ancient Roman roads discovered at the same time as the domus.

La Casa de la Fortuna es un yacimiento arqueológico situado en la ciudad de Cartagena, Región de Murcia, España. Se trata de una domus romana del siglo I a. C. cuyo acceso se sitúa en la plaza de Risueño.

Esta domus recibe su curioso nombre por una inscripción latina situada en su entrada trasera, en la cual se lee “Fortuna propitia”, que quiere decir buena suerte. Esta inscripción se situaba ahí para que todo aquel que entrase a la casa fuera afortunado. En ella encontramos algunas de las partes de una típica casa romana de la época, como pueden ser el tablinum o sala de recepción, el cubiculum o dormitorio o el triclinium donde se celebraban grandes banquetes. Esta casa ha sido adaptada para uso museístico en el cual se hace a los visitantes un recorrido por la casa y se les muestran los adornos y objetos encontrados en la excavación, tales como vajillas, monedas, objetos de adorno personal, lucernas, etc. Junto con esta visita se pueden observar también unas antiguas calzadas romanas descubiertas al mismo tiempo que la domus.
