            I was due to have a meeting with Liz's care manager and a social worker this morning, along with one of Liz's daughters, Nicky, so I drove down to Melksham for 10am. It had rained hard during the night, and several of the country roads were flooded, with water still running off the fields. It was like driving through a ford in about 5 places on the journey - the deepest road water I've ever seen. Anyway, I arrived safely. However, there had been a crash on the M4 motorway, and the care manager had got stuck in the resultant traffic jam, so she had to postpone her part of the meeting. We met with the social worker, and Jill, Liz's lovely lady from Alzheimer's Support (who takes Liz out on Wednesday afternoons), was there too. Liz doesn't like meetings, and got quite upset, so Jill took her into the garden, and chatted with her. Eventually, Liz was willing to speak with the social worker, but there'll need to have another visit for the SW to be able to ascertain all the information she needs. 

I'd booked a swimming session at the pool in Melksham for 12.30pm, so went off for that after the meeting. The Melksham Community Campus was opened last August, and has the pool, gym and sports halls, the public library, a cafe and other community rooms. I'd forgotten that I needed to bring a padlock for the locker, but they sell them on site for £4, so that was OK. The pool isn't as nice as Carterton, but I enjoyed the swim - the lanes they'd set up for the session were much narrower than I'm used to, but we all managed to avoid bumping into each other!

I put the satnav on for the journey back to Ciren, as I knew the M4 accident would be having knock-on effects, so I went a very different - and quite enjoyable - way. I then did the shoppng at Tesco in Ciren before completing the journey home.

We had the sad news this evening, that Mike's brother's treatment has now been stopped, and he'll be going into a hospice soon, if possible.
